Congratulations President-Elect Barack Obama!
Welcome to the DYSC
The youth vote propelled Barack Obama to an historic victory in this election. Over the last two years we have fought hard for a real shot at progressive change, and now we need to take advantage of this opportunity. Join our effort to build a new generation of Democratic leaders and persuade Democratic Party leaders to invest more time, money, and resources into young people!
We will be launching several efforts in the weeks to come:
Change We Can Achieve: As Barack Obama said on election night "This victory alone is not the change we seek." We need to keep young people engaged in the process to help carry out the progressive reforms Obama promised during the 2008 campaign. We need to mobilize this new group of engaged citizens to push for progressive legislation in every area.
The Next Obama: We are running a nationwide campaign to empower young people to run for office. We provide the largest national database of qualification information for elected office, tools for new candidates to create a profile and connect with other young and experienced leaders, and a collection of top resources for new candidates at RunForOffice.org.
INVEST: Our effort to persuade Democratic Party leaders in all 50 states to make further investments in young people. We will encourage state parties to consult young people in local strategic political decisions, and to invest in training a new generation of leaders. We will also help state parties connect to exceptional young candidates in their area.

We need to build a bench of visionary young leaders that are not only the future, but the present leaders of the Democratic Party. We can't do it with meaningless events and pandering near election time. It's time for a permanent commitment. DYSC has the ideas, the passion, and the people to get it done...but we need your support. Read the plan, get involved, and make a contribution. Invest in the future of the Democratic Party and a strong progressive movement in the United States!
